In cooperation with the staff of a psychiatric secured ward, the task was to set up a patient room as violence and suicide preventive as possible.
Together with the staff, we went through the room to uncover how we should furnish, to prevent the possibility of violence, self-harm and suicide. The focus was to organise the patient session in order to ensure the patient and staff as much as possible.
This led to an interior design with:
- Wall/ceiling mirror monitoring, to prevent blind corners/hiding places.
- At the bathroom door, a suicide prevention bracket is mounted over the visible door hinges. See more about the product here
- The TV is uncovered with the TV in-coverage cabinet. See more about the product here
- In order to allow the patient to take ownership of the rhythm of sleep, and to create peace and homeliness, we have established blackout with our suicide prevention curtain solution, where the curtains are triggered by load. See also our interior design at Psychiatric Center Amager
