INTERIOR DESIGN OF PATIENT ROOMS AND LIVING ROOMS IN PSYCHIATRY MIDDELFART

The Psychiatry in Middelfart has completed an exciting project to update the interior design of all patient rooms and living spaces.

We are proud to have participated in the project, where we have worked closely with the clinical staff at the department on testing and selecting new furniture for the different rooms.

The clinical staff at the departments wanted furniture with the following characteristics:

– Cleaning friendly
– Flame retardant textiles in category Crib 5
– The furniture should not be possible to use for violence or self-harm.
– Could withstand heavy-handed use and violent situations
– Does not allow to store sharp objects in upholstery or similar
– Could be part of everyday life as normalized furniture
– Service-friendly
– Durable
– Be designed without 4 legs
– Assembled with special safety screws
– Waterproof and hygiene-friendly fabrics

Based on the very specific requirements and review of the options available, the choice fell on a solution where we decorated with furniture from our range of specially designed furniture to challenged environments.

Several pieces of furniture were tested to ensure that they created the desired environment and met the requirements for safety and durability. The furniture should be able to withstand extra load and as designed at the same time in such a way that it is not possible to use the furniture inadvertently for example violence or self-harm.

THE CHOICE OF FURNITURE

For the patients, the choice fell on the Ryno writing & dining table chair, Sky armchair and Cumulus Plus writing/dining table (60kg) as well as a coffee table.

The living rooms are furnished with 120 kg cumulus dining tables and around the tables are Ryno dining table chairs.

For the common and living areas, we chose together Corsica sofa set. Here was furnished with two 3-seater sofa, two 2-seater sofa and 4 armchairs in each living room.

All sofas and armchairs are closed at the bottom with plates and safety screws. There are no joints at the back and armrests to avoid the possibility of storing sharp objects, which at the same time makes the sofas cleaner.

All the furniture is upholstered in vinyl textile which is flame retardant Crib 5, waterproof and very cleaning friendly.
